We are planning a day trip on 8 June (Friday) from Munich to see Hohenschwanstein and Neuschwanstein castles, Mary's Bridge and possibly visit the Tegelberg luge. Our train arrives in Fussen at 9:56 AM, our tours are at 12:55 (H) and 15:30 (N) and our return train leaves at 18:06. Would we have enough time to visit Mary's Bridge in between the tours? In addition, would it be possible to get in a few luge runs at Tegelberg after the Neuschwanstein tour and make it to Fussen by 18:06? Also, would appreciate any other tips (eating, sights) on our limited time there.
There is a bus from the village of Hohenschwangau to Mary's bridge. A lot of people take the bus to the bridge and walk down a steep path to the castle. Google maps says the route is 700m long and takes 12 minutes, so in about 2 hours from when you get back to the Hotel Müller to your tour of Neuschwanstein you should have plenty of time.
Is the bridge open again? I think so.
The bridge is open. I was there yesterday. Take the bus up as it unloads near the bridge. See the bridge, walk down a steep walkway, see the Castle, then walk all the way down. If you are going on a castle tour your ticket will have a time on it. You have a five minute window to get through the turnstiles or you are out of luck. Bring some food or purchase it there and have a picnic at the lake.
Thank you both for the information.
Since our tour of Neuschwanstein Castle ends around 16:15 and we're planning on catching the 18:06 train from Fussen to Munich, my guess is that we would not have enough time to visit the alpine slide (luge) at Tegelberg unless we take a later train?
