We're in Kassel right now and drive to Waldeck tomorrow. We'd like to see some castle ruins in the area, but nothing is coming up on my searches in English. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

Thanks for the info, Lubtisch. I'll scratch our last-minute plans to check out the castle ruins nearby. We are going to spend 2-4 hours in Fritzlar tomorrow, then head on to Waldeck.
I'll be writing a trip report when I get home in August. We've had many memorable experiences so far, with many more to come, I'm sure. I spent far more time planning this trip than any other, and it is certainly paying off. Of course, the feedback from forum members such as yourself helped tremendously.
One thing I'll pass on now, our meals have been really good, and a lot of that comes from research. For example, I chowed down on some succulent ox cheeks at Hotel Elephant in Weimar. Great flavor, friendly service, historical building, in a city I will return to.

Going to THAT castle ruin looks doable in a couple of days. Thanks. Yeah, our itinerary seems rushed to most, but that's how we travel. In fact, we've eased up a bit as in the past we got behind. This trip is just about right. Once we get to Waldeck today, we're kicking back, catching up on phone calls, sleeping in. Then, onward to Margburg.
