Car rentals at Frankfort Train Station.

We plan to arrive at the Frankfort Train Station on a Sunday, May 5, 2024 then rent a car before finding standard lodging nearby for one night before driving south to Wertheim am Main.

Thanks for sharing your travel tips on any of these topics.

Thanks much!

I don't believe there are any rental agencies in the hauptbahnhof. But Google Maps shows several within a couple of blocks. However, given the difficulty of parking, you might consider staying overnight in a nearby hotel and picking up the car in the morning.

And BTW, it is spelled Frankfurt

All downtown rental agencies will be closed on a Sunday. Stay overnight, rent on Monday. If you really need a car on Sunday, the airport.

Rent your car on Monday. Why pay for rent and parking for a car you don't need until the next day?

I don't understand what standard lodging is. Most hotels will have either their very expensive underground car park or no car park. Getting a car and then parking it for the night will be expensive.

I suggest taking the S-bahn from Frankfurt to the airport and renting a car there. We just returned a car there and it is super convenient to either the airport or the train/s-bahn station at the airport. You may also wish to stay at one of the hotels right at the airport/train station and then renting a car the next morning. I suppose that depends on how far you need to drive the next day.

In 2022 we rented a car from Hertz right in the train station, and we have another rental booked for next year from the train station. The Hertz office is very easy to find, and the cars are parked just around the corner in a parking building. Not sure what hours it is open. We booked through AutoEurope.
