has anyone rented a car in Aachen? I will be staying near the HBF in Aachen. Is cab the best alternative to reach the car rental area or is there a tram or bus or??? Plan to rent to drive to Bruges then onto Ypres for a night and then back to Aachen

There is a Europcar location at Hbf. It is not very highly rated (from google reviews). Apparently keys are at the DB desk for prearranged rentals and cars are at a nearby parking garage.
Sixt car rental is by bus from Hbf to Bluecherplatz.

Corrected the spelling. As for negative reviews, yes, people who have a problem post their negative experiences. In fact, I view a few negative reviews as a positive, validating that the reviews are genuine. But a majority of negative reviews mentioning similar problems serves as a warning to go in with eyes wide open.
