Can you activate/use the Germany Rail Flexipass in Prague?

Hi,

I am purchasing a 5 day Flexipass for Germany only; and am interested in the direct bus route from Prague (the IC bus) that's included on the pass. My question is can we use one of the German rail pass days for the bus from Prague to Munich? In other words, can I activate the rail pass on the Prague side? Or must the German rail pass be activated on the German side? We are planning on starting in Prague and then need to travel to Munich and will be using trains extensively while in Germany.

The GRP Flyer does not include Prague on the list of cities outside Germany to which the pass can be used for trains, but it does indicate the pass can be used on the IC bus from Prague. However, I do not see that there is anywhere in Prague where you can validate the pass before using it. Maybe you can on the bus.

From the Flyer, "A ticket inspector may also validate the Pass when the holder arrives in Germany on a train from abroad". So, for the train, it can be used from Furth im Wald (first station in Germany coming from Prague) to Munich, and it can be validated on the train. You would have to purchase a Czech Rail ticket from Prague to Furth for 431 Kc (€16,65 or $18.32) pP.

It is very clearly communicated on the website of the German rail pass for which non-domestic destinations the rail pass is valid and for which means of transport.

"With the German Rail Pass you can also take any IC Bus."

Answer in your case is yes but only for IC buses.

I did read that I can take the IC bus for the Munich-Prague route, but the DB website does not specify whether the pass can be used starting on the Prague side, especially for an un-activated pass. As we are flying into Prague, I would need to activate the pass on the Prague side. Can you do that?
