If I buy a Sparpreis Europa Schweiz ticket from Kehl-ZRH with the following stops, if I decide later to just get on at Basel, could I do that? The price is almost 1/2 for 5 persons of getting a Basel-ZRH ticket, We haven't deicded if we are going to go to Basel for the day, or depart from Strasbourg (taking a tram over to Kehl). Also, is the Sparpreis Europa Schweiz ticket normally available, or do they run out? Trip is in July, prefer not to be locked in for another month, but don't want to risk losing a good deal.

No, because the Offenburg-Basel leg is an ICE, you must make that train. Will you be starting in Strasbourg?
You could look at taking a French TER to Basel and getting a SuperSaver Swiss ticket from Basel to Zurich airport.
thank you. If I get a super saver ticket, like below, can I use the IC leg to ZRH later or only that train?
IC 575 Basel SBB0- Zürich HB 15:26
IC 721 Zürich HB-Zürich Flughafen 15:33
You can use any train you want to get to Basel, you just pay that separately to Deutsche Bahn, or SNCF if you go on the French side of the border.
Swiss Super Saver tickets are only sold within 30 days of your travel date. I checked, and June 9 have tickets available for 22.80 CHF. Remember that Super Saver tickets are nonrefundable and train specific, meaning you can only travel on the train and date written on the ticket. Walk up fare is 38 CHF for full flexibility.
What are the ages for your group? The TER price to Basel is 24 EUR, but 60+ is a 25% discount and there are also youth and children discounts. No reason to cross over to Germany to get to Basel.
thanks. I didn't know about the Swiss super saver--I'll keep it in mind. We still might just do Kehl-ZRH with a stopover in either Frieborg, Basel or Zurich. We are departing from Strasbourg and can just take the train over from Strasbourg to Kehl for 4 eruos each and then continue on the same train with the Sparpreis Europa Schweiz ticket, about 100 euros for 6 persons.
I see you are simultaneously posting the same question on 2 different forums, which always leads to confusion.
sorry. It started as 2 distinct issues, then morphed. thanks, again, for the advice. much appreciated.
