Can a Friend Visit me During a Long Layover in Frankfurt?

I'm traveling from the US to Egypt. I have a 5-hour layover in Frankfurt. My friend lives in the area. Is it possible for her to come to the airport so we can hang out? Will she be able to get to the area where I am? Can I get to The Squaire?

Thank you.

If you leave airside you will have to go back through security to board your flight. Your friend can join you if they buy a plane ticket and go through security.

She cannot enter past security unless she has a boarding pass. You cannot leave the secure area without passing through Passport Control. Then after your visit you would need to go through security and Passport Control again to reach the gate for your ongoing flight (which would start boarding as much as an hour before departure). The lines at these checkpoints can at times be quite time consuming. You could meet in the Arrivals area for a short time, but I wouldn't risk leaving the airport.

What a lovely idea to have a local friend come hangout for a bit! If you can pull it off given potential time issues, I hope you do it. Sounds like a really lovely idea and a very nice friend.

I have done this. I've met people at the small shops near the entrance, enjoyed coffee or a beer and a sandwich together and then headed back in through security.
Just make sure that you allow enough time for getting back.
