Buying Advanced Train Tickets

I posted a general question about train travel in my itinerary thread, but I'm hoping I'll garner more views with a better title. If it's against the rules to post multiple threads about a similar topic, I apologize, and please delete this.

After a ton of research and playing around on Bahn.com, I've come up with the following tickets I plan to purchase. I stuck with only major journeys I know I'll have to take.

Sept. 7: St. Goar to Stuttgart via Heidelberg @ 07:56. Arrival in Stuttgart is at 19:58. €35.90 Sparpreis. https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?ld=38219&protocol=https:&seqnr=3&ident=4j.022789219.1563826253&rt=1&changeOutwardJourney=yes

Sept. 10: Stuttgart to München via Ulm @ 08:14. Arrival in München is at 13:12. €23.90 Sparpreis. https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?ld=38219&protocol=https:&seqnr=1&ident=56.025613219.1563826347&rt=1&OK#focus

Sept. 14: München to Mittenwald @ whenever. I'm still unsure of the exact advantages of the €25 Bayern ticket versus the €22 Regio-Ticket Werdenfels. I should simply purchase one of these at the ticket machine in München Hauptbahnhof, correct?

Sept. 17: Mittenwald to Frankfurt via Würzburg @ 08:36. Arrival in Frankfurt is at 19:27. €29.90 Sparpreis. https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?ld=38219&protocol=https:&seqnr=2&ident=8q.08320219.1563826858&rt=1&rememberSortType=minDeparture&REQ0HafasScrollDir=1

For local/regional trips and trips within cities, it is pointless to purchase tickets in advance, right? For instance, if I want to go from St Goar to Moselkern to see Burg Eltz, will the price be the same at the ticket machine as on Bahn.com? Maybe that's a bad example. The price one way is €12 and the price of a day ticket is €20.60, so obviously I'll buy the day ticket. I can't really think of any longer distance trips I might take. I'll probably visit Linderhof while I'm in Mittenwald, but I have no idea what the total price will be. You take the train to Garmisch and then catch a bus the rest of the way. Which bus company drives that route? Would a Bayern or similar day ticket cover the entire cost?

Any help will be greatly appreciated because I want to buy these tickets before the prices increase. Thank you!

For your first route what unusual routing are you taking? That 07.56 arrives at 11:53 in Stuttgart Hbf a full 8 hours before the time you quote. If you don't go into Heidelberg you can save even more time because you won't have to change trains in Mannheim, go into Heidelberg and then back to Mannheim to continue south.

I plan to visit Heidelberg for most of the day before going to Stuttgart, that’s why there’s an eight hour stop. As far as costs go, it’s a lot cheaper than a separate trip from Stuttgart.

If you noticed similar (albeit shorter) stops in Ulm and Würzburg, they’re for the same reason.

You could save 4 EUR per ticket by getting Super Sparpreis tickets, but no cancellation benefits, and no City Ticket to get to your local destinations from the Hauptbahnhof.

The advantage of the Bayern Ticket going to Mittenwald is that it would include public transport for the rest of the day including buses.
