I will be staying at Tegernsee, in Rottach Egern, and need to travel to either Innsbruck or Hall in Tirol (which is a little closer than Innsbruck). By car it takes about an hour and a half. Is there a bus or train, or some sort of shared ride service, that I can take? When I looked it up on google maps, public transport would take over three or four hours with multiple changes. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
There is a bus from Tegernsee to Achensee but it’s a little difficult to find on the route planners. I found the Fahrplan.OBB.at will show these bus routes.
Takes about 2h20mins.

There are only two DB buses per day to the Achensee in Tyrol (Maurach), where you can transfer to an Austrian bus down to Jenbach in the Inn valley and finally catch a train to Innsbruck. The first leaves Rottach at 8:55, the other one at 15:05. Look up them as suggested by DJ at the ÖBB website (the DB doesn't know about Austrian buses) and type in as starting point "Rottach-Egern Post".
(By train you would be forced to do a time consuming circle tour, first going north to Holzkirchen then east to Rosenheim, the south west to Innsruck).
Thank you both for the information.
