Planning a day trip from Maastricht in The Netherlands to Burg Eltz. Would need to rent a car from Maastricht. Any issues driving to Burg Eltz considering I am a "European Rookie"???
Would like to stop by Aachen on the way back. Thoughts on Aachen???
Definitely doable. By rail it would take 4 1/2 to 5 hours and you still have to hike or get a bus (weekends only) to get there, but 2 hours in a car assuming no staus, (traffic slow-downs). And you will pass by/through Aachen. For Aachen, I'd park outside the city and go in on a tram or bus.
