I would say yes, because rules are changing so quickly around the globe why take a chance? I take my CDC card along with my passport for all international travel, better safe than sorry.

Absolutely! Who knows what could change. Best case is that the US drops the re-entry test for vaccinated people while you are gone. If that happens, you want your card to avoid the test. On the less-positive side, maybe there is a bigger surge or new variant and Germany starts doing vaccine checks again. Neither is all that likely, but can’t hurt to have the card just in case.

As others have correctly pointed out, rules change. All the time. Bring them. It's not like they're heavy...

All good points, especially if the US changes their entry requirements while we are in Germany. I think I will definitely bring them.

I would, just as I have the Passport on me over there when out and about. The CDC card and Passport go together.

Since the system was introduced just this weekend, no one really knows how things will go in practice, especially for special cases.

Requiring vaccine certificate / covid passport is essentially a way for establishments to bypass all other restrictions, like how many people are allowed in or restrictions on opening hours. If there are no applicable restrictions, there won't be a need to check for certificates either.

Currently main restriction in Helsinki area is that places which serve alcohol can't serve after midnight and need to close at 0100, every customer needs to have a place to sit and only 75% of max admittance. Night clubs etc. will want to be open later and will check for certificates, but restaurants selling mainly food might not need to.

If you try to get in a night club with your CDC certificate, who knows how some random doorman would react? You would probably be the first to try. Law is pretty clear though, only digital EU covid certificates matter, there are no exceptions listed. It looks like some countries will provide digital certificates for those with CDC certificate and I guess Finland could do that too, but it's not yet happening.

Same here. The only times anyone asked for it was to enter France and to fly back to the U.S., but it's not like it takes up any room.
