Boppard Marktplatz restaurants

Anyone been to the Boppard Marktplatz lately? I followed Russ’ great recommendations about 7 or 8 years ago and stayed close to the Marktplatz in a River view hotel and enjoyed about 4 great bar/restaurants at the Marktplatz where one could sit outside under umbrellas and enjoy great German food/ beer and outside dining. Returned there annually pre-COVID . I went there after COVID and three of the places were still open - went there in 2024 and only one place was open and had been changed to an Asian restaurant but did offer outside dining and beers … unless things have changed I’m probably done with staying in Boppard. I would appreciate any updates anyone is aware of…thanks!

I was there in May and noticed some outdoor dining/drinking on the Marktplatz. I think there's a German and an Asian place in that row of shops facing the Marktplatz and the Rathaus. There once was an Italian place there bordering the Marktplatz, and as Italian often draws me in I looked but couldn't find it. There were a few more outdoor options over on the river promenade, one of which has a raised patio at the front of the Hotel zur Krone, a place I'd stopped in 3 or 4 times and liked well enough to stop in again this last time for a cold beer and a nice pizza. Great view of the Rhine and the waterfront there. Ranking much higher on the Tripadvisor scale is of course the Severus-Stube, with its outdoor seating shoehorned into the cobblestoned alleyway out front, sort of like they do it in Brussels. I haven't tried it myself but the reviews are most convincing. I walked by the place and was kinda gawking a little to see what it was like inside, when a couple exited, saw me gawking, and in a most enthusiastic way, without any prompting on my part, recommended it to me as the best in town. I suspect they might be right. The place is in between the Marktplatz and the river promendade, roughly.

The best view in town is high above town at Gedeonseck; the outdoor terrace is a magnificent spot. Take the chairlift up there and make the short walk from there. I haven't eaten there and the reviews aren't overwhelming, but what a spot for some cold refreshments on a hot day:

On this visit I did not stay in Boppard proper but in the quieter suburb of Boppard-Bad Salzig at the Hotel Perle am Rhein. Had a nice river-view single, with a mini-deck and the "warring brothers" castles atop the ridge on the opposite side of the river gorge. Breakfast was awesome, with fine views from the dining room, very friendly service and nice offerings, and the location, just a couple of long blocks from the train station, made it easy to get into Boppard in about 4 minutes. The station connects with all other west-bank towns north and south as well. I am kinda kicking myself for not having dinner there at least once in that same dining room. The reviews are excellent:
