Can anyone compare these 2 hotels? Baudobriga vs Bellevue
Bellevue is a little more expensive
Both include breakfast
They are located very near (possibly next door) to each other.
Both look over the river and have rooms available with view of the water.
I think Bellevue is a little more upscale but less quaint. Not sure we would use the pool or spa on this trip so trying to decide if Bellevue is worth the extra money.
I'm not sure what you mean by quaint, but I really liked the Bellevue Hotel. The rooms were very nice, the staff was great and very attentive, and the dinner I had in the restaurant was excellent. I did not stay at the Baudobriga, though, so I can't compare. I know the Bellevue is quite a bit larger than the Baudobriga, so I don't know if that's a factor for you or not.
In the long run, I would say a lot depends on how long you're staying there and how much time you're spending in your hotel room. Both hotels have equally good reviews that I saw, but if you're not interested in the spa and the extra amenities that the Bellevue hotel has, it's probably not worth the extra money.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. I have never been at either so I don't have much context for the adjective quaint. I merely saw it described that way. Basically the generic comparison of the 2 properties described one as quaint, the other as upscale. Not sure either is meant to be negative, just different.
Sorry I couldn't help more. Like I said, I'd say it boils down to whether you will use the spa and the size of the place. If you prefer a smaller, more intimate hotel, then you'd probably like the Baudobriga. The Bellevue was definitely a much larger hotel. I guess you could say it's more upscale, although I can't really compare. It's definitely one of the fancier hotels I have stayed in, and I would stay there again, but the Baudobriga looks very nice too.
All things being equal, I go with the cost. 😊
I have only stayed at Bellevue Rheinhotel, but I loved the balcony overlooking the river.
On the morning of my husband's birthday, they escorted us to the best table in the dining room for breakfast. They gave him a flower and a bottle of local wine. The service was lovely.
I’ve also only stayed at the Bellevue Rheinhotel so can’t compare but we had a similar experience to those described above. I would categorize the hotel as “old-world elegant.” We had a spacious, charming double deluxe view room that had possibly the nicest bathroom of our 6 week trip. Our balcony was huge with comfortable chairs and a good-sized table. With the half board (breakfast and dinner which were superb), and the included river cruise tickets, it turned out to be a very good value for us. We didn’t use the spa or pool.
Communication with the Bellevue Hotel includes 2 options (same price). Wondering which option is best.
Option 1 – Double Room facing the Rhine, with balcony
Option 2 – Deluxe Apartment with Rhine view at Résidence Bellevue*, with balcony
Each accessible apartment features a separate bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. A peaceful atmosphere, a coffee station, floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows with Rhine views and a Smart TV are part of the standard amenities. Standard apartments range from 50 to 55 m², while Deluxe apartments range from 59 to 70 m² and some feature a balcony.
My wife, two-adult sons, and I stayed at Hotel Baudobriga for six nights in 2023 and loved it.
The rooms were comfortable and the staff was wonderful.
I understand why it is so highly rated on Booking.com and Google.
There were mostly Germans staying there so a very authentic German feel.
The breakfast was just fabulous with soft boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, baked goods, yogurt, fruits, etc.
We always had a view of the river from the dining room ... and you could even sit at tables outdoors.
I told my family, if the breakfast is so good, I bet their dinners are too.
Boy was I right, we ate dinner there four nights because it was such good authentic German food.
We would also have a glass of wine from their winery.
We received a Hotel Guest Card which allowed us to ride public transportation for free to most of our destinations. I suspect both hotels provide the card.
While this hotel did not have air conditioning or a spa, it excelled at food & lodging so we would stay there again without hesitation.
I just finished a 3 day stay at Baudobriga. I had originally booked at Bellevue, but because of the price savings, I switched to Baudobriga. I’ve never stayed at Bellevue, so can’t really compare the two, but I can tell you about my experience at Baudobriga.
The two hotels are literally right next to each other. We had a river view window with a balcony, which we enjoyed very much. The room and bathroom were very clean and updated. The room was modest in size, roomy enough for my husband and me. The bathroom was modest in size as well. The room had a closet and shelves, as well as a table and two chairs in addition to two chairs on the balcony.
The staff were all very kind and helpful, and they spoke English. The breakfast room was charming, and had a river view as well. The breakfast buffet was very good quality with many choices.
There is an elevator in the hotel, but to get into the hotel, there is a half flight of twisty stairs.
The hotel has their own wine bar and restaurant, which is closed Tuesdays. We ate dinner there one night, and thought it reasonably good but not as good or as well-priced as other places.
Since we didn’t need the extra amenities offered by the Bellevue, we were happy to stay at Baudobriga and would do so again.
