Biking to Nymphenburg Palace

Hello!
Currently planning a few days in Munich. We want to see Nymphenburg Palace and the English Garden and were thinking that biking might be an interesting way link the two. Has anyone had any experience with biking to Nymphenburg and/or the English Garden? Are there bike racks to lock up your bike while you tour inside the palace?
Some background: I live in Boston and have plenty of experience biking in a city that could be more accessible. I've heard Munich is much more friendly to those on two wheels!

Thanks!

I don't know of a dedicated biking route between the Englischer Garten and Nymphenburg but you might want to follow the route suggested here (click on "Routenplaner" for a map), which starts in Nymphenburg and approaches the Englischer Garten on its westernmost leg.

Yes, my brother and I take a group of friends to Oktoberfest every other year and part of the trip involves a bike trip from Mike's Bikes, up through Englisher Gartens stopping at the Chinesischer Turm for a beer then continuing up to the mini-Hofbräu for lunch. We then head west roughly following the Nymphenburg Biedersteiner Kanal through the Olympic Park to Nymphenburg. From there we head back into town via Nymphenburg Str. through Königsplatz and return the bikes at the end of the day.

Bikes are not allowed on the palace park (the garden area behind the palace) and there are place to park your bike but I don't recall there being fixed racks. It is more typical in Munich to lock your bikes together or just put the lock through the rear wheel to keep someone from riding off on it. No one will want to steal your steel frame 3 speed rental anyway.

Why don't you walk? You can stop whenever and wherever you want on the way.

Thanks for the replies! This is my third trip to Munich, so we're looking to do something we haven't done before. These routes look great!

DJ: Thanks for the info on the bike parking at Nymphenburg, that's just what I was looking for. Glad to know bike thieves are a little more discerning in Munich than in Boston!

No problem. edit: you can see where people leave their bikes in these google street view photo spheres:

I see the route sla019 linked to is basically the same route we do except we head north through the park instead of up Leopold Str. I also forgot to mention the first stop is to watch the surfers on the Eisbach as soon as you enter the park. This bike trip is always one of the highlights of the trip for our group.
