I am solo traveling to Burglengenfeld in the Oberpfalz (or Upper Palatinate) district. I am seeking suggestions for great bike touring day trips and or day hikes in the area and specifically advice on how to get to trailheads or cycle paths. There is not a train station in Burglengenfeld, only a bus station that I know of. Thank you!
Please google for "Oberpfalz Wandern Radeln Burglengenfeld", The first link popping up is a pdf with a map of Burglengenfeld and a list of possible tours in the region. It's in German but i think google is good enough to translate.
thank you sla019, I will google your recommended search.
The nearest train station is at Maxhütte-Haidhof, which is on the line between Regensburg and Schwandorf. From the train station take the No. 41 bus for the 12-15 minute ride into Burglengenfeld. Alternatively, you could cycle; it is around 5.5km. There are plans to re-open the train branch line, from Maxhütte-Haidhof to Burglengenfeld, but I think it someway off yet.
The Naabtalradweg runs through Burglengenfeld - https://www.bayernbike.de/touren/oberpfalz_ost/naabtal.shtml (German only)
You also might find the following useful, although again both are only in German, sorry.
http://www.bay-rad.de/bfr/rw_regional.htm#rw_Oberpfalz - select the radweg from the list to the left of the map, you will then see a more detailed map, elevation profile and more.

This might be the one sla meant (but it didn’t come up in the google search for me):

I’ve been to this area many times (Münchshofen specifically) and can recommend the hikes listed as 5 and 5a on the map. At the halfway point you could stop at Landgasthof Hintermeier for lunch. The owner makes most of the sausages and cured meats himself (at least he did last time I was there).
