This is a very delayed but none the less sincere "Thank-you" to all of the Forum respondents (especially Russ) who helped in A VERY BIG way to make our month long odyssey trip to Germany (and Amsterdam and Salzburg) from end of Sept to end of Oct. such an amazing adventure. The suggestions for itinerary, accommodations, transportation , money etc. all made for a smooth, easy very fun yet informative trip. Being able to visit my relatives in various cities in northern Germany Lubeck Hanover etc), seeing the house my great-grandfather grew up in, made it even more special. I was a very anxious 70 year old doing this for the 1st time but it all turned out better than I could have EVER hoped for. And hats off to the DB system only one delay when there was a fire on a train (I guess a very rare occurrence), the Twin Pass worked great although not many employees knew the details of its use was great not to have to worry about having reservations etc. just hopped on a train going where and when we were going. To top it off the weather was amazing only one day of rain in the entire month. (I realize the area has been alarming low of rainfall but the grape growers seemed glad).
