I certainly enjoy train rides but i was wondering which is the easiest(key word) to travel from Stuggart to Berlin. Usually time required for air travel (getting to airport outside of town, arriving early as required, getting into town from airport) makes train (from center of town) easier. If I understand the train between these two is 7 hours+ and has 9 stops. I always thought hi-speed trains had limited stops. Am I misunderstanding the schedules?
My first thought is that since they are more than 400 miles apart, nine stops isn’t very many — certainly “limited” by comparison to how many there could be!
I saw mainly trains that require a transfer in Karlsruhe or Frankfurt.
If you mean Stuttgart to Berlin I see several trains per day that take about 6 hours and have between 0-2 transfers. Are you looking at bahn.de?
Easiest and likely lowest price connection is FlixTrain:

Alternative is the big player Deutsche Bahn.

As you can see on fast train ICE map 2020 there is a little detour close to river Rhine before approaching Berlin. That is the reason for the duration.

A flight is the faster alternative: Both airports are well connected by public transport.
Tip: Omio provides you with direct price and time comparison. No surcharge compared to booking directly: https://www.omio.com/
In the current time table there are direct trains from Stuttgart to Berlin at 8:06, 12:06, 14:06 and 16:06 (travel time 6:19 to 6:21); details at www.bahn.com.
The concept of "direct train" does not exclude intermediate stops. It simply means that you don't have to change trains.
BTW, there are no Flixtrains operating between Stuttgart and Berlin presently, only buses.
I would still rather take the train from Stuttgart to Berlin, rather than fly. See the countryside, walk through the train, go to the dining car, be comfortable.
Currently the fast track between Stuttgart and Mannheim is being renewed. Therefore the ICE trains have to use the old track, which is longer and slows them down. The repair works will (probably) be finished by October 31. From November 1 on the ICE trains will take 45 minutes shorter to Berlin (5 hours 34 minutes). The departure times from Stuttgart will be different then. There is a direct ICE every
two hours.
Thank you all, decision made...train.
