We will be visiting Oberammergau over the Christmas holiday and would appreciate any suggestions on best routes for my 4 mile + morning runs? Flat or hills are okay.

Too bad it will be winter- there is a very nice paved walking/bike path from O'gau to Unterammergau that would fit the bill perfectly. But there will be snow on the ground while you are there - possibly lots of snow. You'll be better off sticking to cleared sidewalks in town. Your hotel desk manager or B&B host would be able to draw out a suitable route on one of their town maps.

I typically run with ice cleats during January and February at home so will be sure to bring them.

I go running a lot when I travel and I found that the local water way, in this case the Ammer river, is a sure bet for good running paths. Looks like you could follow the river from Oberammergau to Unterammergau and back for about an 8km run. That is what I would do.

The path I mentioned in my PP is part of the Ammergau Alps cross country trail system in winter. So it will be groomed, but not completely cleared of snow. But if you have cleats it would be usable (just be on the lookout for overtaking skiers)
