We will be traveling to Germany in April 2018, I'm looking for a place to stay just outside munich. We would like to be close enough to go into the city during the day but stay somewhere quiet at night. We will be traveling with our one year old.

The Hotel Laimer Hof is in a quiet neighborhood near Nymphenburg Palace. It is family-oriented, has parking, and has SUPERB, friendly service. It is just a few blocks from restaurants, tram stops, and a grocery store. Our room was very spacious...and it is reasonably priced!

It depends on what you mean by just outside Munich. The Laimer Hof (a suggestion I'd like to support) is outside the center. Outside in a wider sense would be, e.g., Freising or Erding ot Fürstenfeldbruck. Freising and Fürstenfeldbruck are nice historical towns but Erding has a great spa. A little further away are Herrsching at lake Ammersee and Starnberg at lake Starnberger See, both with good S-Bahn connections into the city.
