Best of Wiesbaden/Frankfurt?

Hello! My wife and I (with our eight-month old son) are staying in Wiesbaden for three nights in a couple of weeks. This is where my wife’s Omi (grandmother) grew up during WWII.

What are some of your suggestions for the best things to do/see, historically as well as culturally? We will have a rental car, so we have some flexibility with travel times and locations.

Thanks!

Drive up to Rudesheim, look around, go up to the monument (beautiful view). Take the ferry (w/o car) over to Bacharach. Enjoy.

Take the train to Mainz and check out the old town.

If you drive to Rüdesheim do a castles tour on KD boat:

In Rheingau area (between Wiesbaden and Rüdesheim) enjoy Kloster Eberbach, Weingut Schloss Vollrads, Schloss Johannisberg and Niederwalddenkmal. Eltville is a very nice little town. For lunch / dinner enjoy a little vinery.

On the other side of the Rhine you will find very old town of Mainz, also worth a visit.

In Wiesbaden visit Schloss Biebrich with the park, in the evening do not wonder about the parrots living there. A nice outlook you will have from Neroberg - get up with the little mountain railway. Locals enjoy warm summer days at open-air bath Opelbad.
