Best choices for shopping: women's clothing Nuremberg

We are visiting mid-October and have a day set aside to just do some clothes and shoe shopping. Looking for best stores for good quality European brands - we are late 50's/early 60's. I'd love some suggestions - we'll be staying relatively near the downtown section.

Nuremberg is not exactly what you would call a fashion city. My wife prefers Breuninger, Wöhrl (both in Karolinenstraße) and Peter Hahn (Königsstraße, near the St Lorenz cathedral).

LOL I figured as such but this is where we'll be with a day to just enjoy ourselves. I'm not looking for a whole wardrobe but, if I see something, a lovely European pair of shoes or outfit that I wouldn't normally see at home.

Actually Nuremberg has some nice shops - just take a walk down Kaiserstraße, the main shopping drag. It won't beat Berlin or other major cities but it's definitely worth a look. There is a Kauf Dich Glücklich, which has some fun modern clothes, COS, Wöhrl, and many others, including my personal favorite, Gudrun Sjödén (from Sweden). Definitely check out Gudrun if you haven't been to one before.

Mardee: Thanks! I'll follow that path - I live in NYC and we have a Gundrun in Soho! But I know that I can get styles that I cannot get here, including (fingers-crossed) a pair of josef seibel boots that are not sold in the US.

For that label, I'd try it at Salamander or HUMANIC, both in the Karonlinenstraße (which is actually the most important shopping street (1); it branches off from the Königsstrasse to the west at the St. Lorenz church - there are also the above-mentioned Breuninger and Wöhrl). Another possibility would be Schuh Hoffmann (aka Schübel-Schuh) at Hallplatz No. 5, an outwardly unattractive store, but stocking rare brands. BTW, a Mephisto shoes store ist at Königsstraße 29, next to the Peter Hahn store mentioned above.

(1) the others are: Königsstraße, Kaiserstraße, and Breite Gasse, all close together in the St. Lorenz quarter.

bean, lucky you - I'd kill for one of her shops near me. 😊

Iv case you are into local Bavarian clothing ("Dirndl"), try "Trachten-Hülf" on Wölckernstrasse 41. Bit of a rough area south of the main station, bu the shop has a wide choice and do good service. Well worth a visit.
