Best Breweries in Bavaria?

My wife and I will be driving from Munich to the Dolomites and are looking for a few stops along the way — ideally, a brewery. Any breweries in Bavaria you'd recommend (outside/south of Munich)?

Below, I only mention breweries with Bräustüberl (please check the opening hours on the homepages)

(1) Near München

  • Brauerei Weihenstephan in Freising
  • Maierbräu in Altomünster (Bräustüberl Kapplerhof)
  • Andechs (mentioned above)

(1) Along the A8 towards Salzburg

  • Schlossbrauerei Stein an der Traun (north of the Chiemsees)
  • Schloss Valley (mentioned above, near Holzkirchen)
  • Brauerei Maxlrain (near Bad Aibling, south of Rosenheim, https://maxlrainer-braeustueberl.de/ )
  • Brauerei Wieninger in Teisendorf (near Traunstein)
  • Brauerei Karg in the Open Air Museum Auf der Glentleiten (a bit of a - beatuiful - detour into the mountains)

(2) Along the route via Garmisch (- Innsbruck)

  • Klosterbrauerei Ettal (opposite the impressive baroque monastery)

(3) Along the route via Tegernsee (- Jenbach - Innsbruck)

  • Bräustüberl Tegernsee
  • Klosterbrauerei Reutberg (my favourite, unfortunately a little out of the way)

I was coming on here to say Andechs and Weihenstephan. Beyond that note that many little villages have their own breweries, so beer may be highly local and vary in quality from generic to surprisingly amazing.

I would suggest:
https://griesbraeu.de/en/brewery-murnau-bavaria/

Griesbräu zu Murnau
Obermarkt 37, 82418 Murnau am Staffelsee

It's in a great small Bavarian town that festivals (like most Bavarian towns will have). Please watch your drinking and driving as the Germans are not as lenient as American cops are. There is also a hotel attached so you can drink and spend the night.

Be brave….choose a town with a brewery and stop. The beer scene in Germany is the Garden of Eden. But…..visit Andechs! Food, atmosphere and great beer.

Andechs. Spend an afternoon and evening. Please stay nearby and walk/taxi to the Abby. Too many good beers to only have only one, and one is still one too many to drive.
