We are in Baden Baden with a car and heading toward Triberg. Of course we want to see the falls and the cuckoo clocks— but would you stop off in Gegenbach? See the open air museum? Check out Freiburg? We can’t do it all but we are in no hurry either !

A few years ago we went to the Christmas market in Freiburg on long day trip that also included breakfast in Staufen and a drive through part of the Black Forest. Although we enjoyed Freiburg, I probably wouldn't go too far out of my way to visit depending on your itinerary. I guess it depends on which direction you're taking after Triberg. In our case, we had based in Colmar, France for 5 nights (great place to visit) and took several driving day trips visiting Christmas markets. BTW - the Route du Vin in France has some great little towns!
