Hi there! Just want to know if I have an 11:00 am flight on Swiss Air from Berlin to Zurich, is getting to the airport 2 hours early enough time? I'll be arriving by train to the Berlin airport so I'm hoping 2 hours early is enough time to get thru security & to the Swiss air gate, but I'm not familiar with the Berlin airport so thought I'd ask & get some feedback.
Thank you!
The answer may depend on where your train is coming from - local or long distance.
The train is coming from Dresden. Why would that matter?
Are you asking if IC 2272 which arrives at 8:58 am will be good enough? If it arrives on time it will be.
Yes, that is exactly the one I'm talking about! Thank you!
Historically runs on schedule 90% of the time.

Have you already booked your flights? Is Zurich your destination or are you going somewhere else in Switzerland?
Because train - plane - train complicates things, and you are starting out in the wrong direction to boot. You can get from Dresden to most places in Switzerland by train in about 8 hours in total, and it will probably be a lot cheaper than flying...
We are flying into Zurich & renting a car. So we are going train-plane-car!
is getting to the airport 2 hours early enough time
Normally yes - especially at that time of day.
Tip: Have also a look into your flight booking information. Each airline provides therein the recommended pre-flight time.
Also: "Passengers at BER can now enjoy extra access to security control." (link)

It matters because if you arrive from Hamburg you need more margin than if you're arriving from Potsdam.
To answer your question, it should be enough if the train arrives on time. But trains can get delayed. And if the train is cancelled the next train won't get you to the airport in time.

So where are you actually going? I agree that you are complicating things and it would be a lot easier to just take the train.
Any reason why you do not just book a Swiss Air flight DRS to ZRH? Flight time 75 minutes.
The non-stop flights from DRS on the day we are traveling don't get into ZRH until nighttime & we want to arrive during the daytime.
A few weeks ago, we arrived at the Berlin airport 2 1/2 hours before our flight. We got to the gate as our flight was boarding. Security was very tight.

I hope you are not coming to the Jungfrau Area then. Far to many tourists coming by car here already.
