Berlin to Wroclaw, train or bus

Hi,
I'm going from Berlin to Wroclaw on the morning/noon of next Sunday the 17th. I found a direct IRE train on DB website, but it is not available for booking. Is that only bookable from the train station?

The other available options are either the DB bus, flixbus, or a train with one change. I'll be travelling with one piece of luggage and a backpack. Which option should I go with?

Thanks in advance!

That direct train looks like an express train with few stops - I'd certainly opt for that one. (I'm not a big fan of buses, so I'd personally go for the train instead - times are pretty good anyway.) The good news is: if you can't book it on the Bahn site, neither can anyone else. I'd book it as soon as you get to Berlin. It does depart from Lichtenberg station (Berlin has several train stations), so you'll have plan to get there first.

Thanks Andrew for your quick response. Is there a possibility that the train is already full, which makes it not possible to book online? I'm arriving to Berlin one day before the trip (Saturday). I hope I can still find tickets available.

I doubt it's sold out - but if you have doubts, check other dates too on the Bahn site even a few weeks out. If you find you can buy tickets on other trains just not on June 17, then maybe it is sold out.

I think there might be some sort of lack of connectedness between Poland and Germany train reservation systems along this corridor. My wife and I bought a ticket from Wroclaw to Goerlitz a few weeks ago, they could not give us a ticket to Goerlitz but only to Zgoerelec on the Polish side. We also took Flixbus from Krakow to Wroclaw, worked great and was very cheap but be aware the legroom is very poor, worse than a coach eat on a plane.

Yes, that's a train that operates during summer on weekends only and it's not bookable via bahn.com. You can buy a ticket on the spot or from any DB vending machine in Berlin. It appears to be bookable online (with a hefty supplement) at polrail.com.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Since I'm arriving one day before the I travel to Wroclaw, do you think there will still be available tickets? I haven't used polrail.com, is it legit or should I just wait until I arrive to Berlin to purchase the ticket?

Last question, since the train is an IRE train, do I need an interrail pass to use it? If so, where can I purchase that?

Thanks!

These type of concerns I would ask at the Resisezentrum to get the latest information. What I would do: take that DB bus, there is a special connection between Berlin and Wroclaw, a brochure offers this information. I have it.

Thanks Fred for your input! Based on the previous responses, the train is a better choice than the bus. I would like to still use that option, and perhaps someone can provide information with regards to this question:

Since the train is an IRE train, do I need an interrail pass to use it? If so, where can I purchase that?

Thanks in advance!

"IRE" means "inter-regional express", it has nothing to do with Inter-Rail. Also, it isn't registration only, so it won't "sell out" - if by remote chance all the seats are occupied you can still get on and stand.

No, thats only a nice name of a local train that doesn't stop as often as the ordinary milk run train ("InterRegio Express", the poor man's ICE).

The DB info page on that train (in German) says you can buy your ticket (€19) aboard the train. It's valid for local transport in Wroclaw too. You can book online on that site as well, but it appears to be available in German only.
