What is the best way to get from Berlin Tegel airport to Lutherstadt/Wittenberg? We would like to go by train I think since that seems more economical than car rental. Is it possible to purchase return train ticket from Berlin to Wittenberg with one week layover? Thank you!

You just buy 2 one-way tickets. Same dif. No price advantage to buying a "return" ticket.

No train service at Tegel. You can take the TXL bus to Beusselstrasse S-bahn station then circle south to Suedkreuz and pick up the RE train to Wittenberg.

Or take the TXL bus to Berlin Hbf (main train station), and from there the RE train to Wittenberg. One stop less.
