Berlin to Potsdam

I hope someone else responds, but here's my initial thoughts. I took the S Bahn to Potsdam and found and very easy to do. I was bound for Sans Souci and took a bus to get me the rest of the way.

So, can you get to the S Bahn easily from Tegel. Here's what Tegel Airport's To and From the Airport FAQ section has to say: "The Express Bus TXL will take you to the S-Bahn station Beusselstraße in just 10 minutes. Here you can change to the S-Bahn circular line." I believe at this station you catch the S42 to the S7 with a change at Westkreuz. Here's a link to the S Bahn map.

It's all pretty cheap getting around in Berlin. The above suggestion is one way of doing it , depends how much you want to see before arriving in Potsdam. You can also take the TXL bus from Tegel to Berlin Hbf (main train station), then take the S-Bahn #7 to Potsdam Hbf.

Taking the S-Bahn at Beusselstrasse is rather circuitous. If you get off the bus at Hauptbahnhof, you can get the S7 which stops at many places, but you can also get a faster RB or RE train with exactly the same ticket.
