Looking for the best way to get to Alexanderplatz from Tegal Airport. I have noticed that there is a TXL Express bus that connects with the public transportation in Berlin. It stops near the Zoo for train connections, but will it continue on closer to Alexanderplatz? The U2 line does stop close to where I need to go so if it is easier to get off at the Zoo stop, I can do that. Also can you buy a 7 day AB zone pass at Tegal tourist office like you can get the Welcome Card?
You mean the "JetExpress Bus TXL"? That's a normal bus line which has only five stops between Tegel airport and main station. It used to run up to Alexanderplatz but because of the heavy traffic in the city and because that bus runs every ten minutes, the buses piled up between the main station and Alexanderplatz. So now the line ends at the main station. From there, it's a five minute ride on either the S-Bahn or the U-Bahn to Alexanderplatz.
See http://www.bvg.de/images/content/linienverlaeufe/LinienverlaufBusTXL.pdf
And yes, there's a regular BVG ticket counter at Tegel airport. Next to the passenger information counter.
Thank you for your quick response! Looks like I can take the S75 from Hauptbahnohof to Alexanderplatz.
Hi,
The S-Bahn 75 is not the only S-Bahn line to reach Alexanderplatz from Berlin Hbf. You have a choice of 4 or 5 lines since Alexanderplatz like Hbf is also a major junction point. Ahrensfelde is the Endstation (terminus) for the S-75 so you'll know it is going east. If you're going from Tegel to Alexanderplatz, no need to bother with the U-Bahn if you are stopping at Hbf. ...just take the S-Bahn.
