Berlin student accommodation

My daughter is a graduate student who will be doing an internship in Berlin this summer. We are helping her find a place to stay from the end of May till early August. Does anyone have a recommendation? Are there universities with summer dorm rooms to rent? Or are there sublet apartment room options? She will be working near Potsdamer Platz near the Tiergarten and would like to be central or near bus/subway. Your recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Are there universities with summer dorm rooms to rent?

German universities don't operate dormitories (or other non-education related services), the system works a little different. Dorms, cafeterias and so on are operated by the local Studentenwerk, in this case the Studentenwerk Berlin. If her internship is affiliated with a German program/university she could get a dorm room through them.

Hi,

I don't know about accommodation in dorms at any of the universities in Berlin. If any, check with the TU, the Technische Uni on Hardenbergstraße in Berlin-Charlottenburg, not far from Bahnhof Zoo. In Berlin-Charlottenburg is the Jugendgästehaus, where university students and other guests can stay, if you want to get away from the HI hostel crowd. I mention the TU because its Mensa (the unversity cafeteria) is open to the public for breakfast and lunch, went to lunch there a couple of times. Maybe that's the extent of it, if you're not a student at the university.

Thank you for your reply. Does anyone know if Studentenwerk will rent a room to an international student for the summer?

Do you know of a church or fraternity who will rent a room to a student who is doing a summer internship?

Your help is greatly appreciated!
