I was wondering what folks might have as a recommendation for a splurge hotel in Berlin? Many thanks for any recommendations.
Hotel de Rome
See also other 5-star hotels in Berlin. Be aware that some hotels have official DeHoGa criteria 5-star rating, other rate themselves as -star.
If this is a super splurge, I suggest the "Adlon" close to Pariser Platz or the " Kempinski " on the Kurfürstendamm, classic and historic hotels.
If I were to stay in a splurge hotel in Berin, I would go with the Adlon.
Adlon is not a historic hotel. The old Adlon was destroyed in 1945, the new one was opened in 1997.
If Michael Jackson dangling a baby outside a window is not historic, I don’t know what is!
(A joke, of course)
Quite right. Maybe my use of the term "historic" is less than accurate as the old Adlon, that particular building and prestigious site of Weimar Berlin was destroyed in the battle for Berlin.
I believe it has a new name and management, but we have stayed at what is now the Bristol, near Sevignyplatz. Convenient to Zoologischegarten rail station (and local transit ticket booth), among other things. Check current reviews, I think. We sometimes took a Junior Suite when it was affordable.
I have never stayed there, and this would be a super splurge. But the Regent Berlin is the Berlin hotel that I have always wanted to stay in. And though it would be a splurge, my memory is that its pricing is certainly lower than the pricing of the top hotels in London and Paris.
P.S. I am not sure of the current status of this hotel. It appears that at the end of 2024, the hotel and the Intercontinental Hotel Group parted ways. I do not know whether it is currently operating or closed for refurbishing. I tried to do a quick search online but did not find anything that clearly set forth what is happening.
