Berlin: Pharmacies in Germany/Berlin?

I noticed when I was in Paris this year, it was great to easily identify pharmacies because they all had bright green crosses outside their premises or in their windows. I think I may have found one image in Google that showed the green cross for Germany.

It is always nice to know where a pharmacy is, not so much for prescriptions, but for sunblocks and maybe over-the-counter remedies, etc.

Will Berlin have plenty of pharmacies and will I be able to identify them by the bright green cross?

Thank you for any input.

I find it easiest to pull up Google Maps on my smartphone and type in "nearest pharmacy" in the search box.
But even without technology, you can find a health & beauty type store or Aldis type store on every other corner in any shopping district in any city.

There is a great variety of pharmacies, some are general, some are naturopathic, etc. Lots of them.

The German for a pharmacy is an "Apotheke", and the Germans also use the green cross.

Do not confuse with a "Drogerie", which in German refers to a shop that sells cosmetics, toiletries, and basic medications, but is not allowed to sell more powerful medications or fill prescriptions.

the german symbol is usually a large red A, often with a snake on it (long story.....)

A drogerie doesn't even sell basic medications unless you count throat lozenges and vitamins and other "natural" cures are medicine.

To get anything from an aspirin to sudafed you'll need an apoteke, but every neighborhood has at least one. And there are several that are open 24 hours (or they rotate being open 24 hours) so you can always get medicine in case of an emergency.

Hi,

Where are you staying in Berlin? As to the frequency of pharmacies, there are literally lots of them in the Savignyplatz area, if you happen to stay there, ie on Goethestraße/Knesebeckstraße, Carmerstraße, Grolmannstraße, at least 5 all withing walking distance of each other. There is also a 24 hour Apotheke at Berlin Hbf.
