We will be going to Germany for 10 days in late June/early July. We are spending a few days in Berlin and taking the train down to Munich. We have tickets for the Euro match in Munich on July 2. My husband and I have been to these cities before but now taking my 12 year old son. We will be doing a couple of day trips from Munich as well - maybe Herrenchiemsee, Salzburg, and the town in which my father grew up. We will probably stay one night in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We would appreciate suggestions for another area to stay for a couple of days. We are active and enjoy nature so would be interested in a day hike or cycle ( on dedicated cycling paths preferably). We were thinking of a town in the Black Forest region but are open to any suggestions. Also I’m interested in attending a classical music/choral concert while in Germany - any advice on where to find information on this? Much appreciated, thanks!
Black Forest is imo too far away from your original destinations.
If you take a car between Berlin and Munich the Bavarian Fichtel Mountains and the Ore Mountains (Saxony) are near your way.
With a detour to southeast of Dresden Saxon Switzerland is a great opton.
All three also somehow reachable by train.
attending a classical music/choral concert
Check Berlin event calendar and music venues to find a good opportunity - excellent are Berliner Philharmoniker.
Tip: On July 13 there is an open-air concert of the Berlin State Opera Orchestra, it is an annual cultural highlight for fans of classical music. The concert is open to everyone free of charge.
