Berlin Marathon

We are coming in for the Berlin marathon thats on September 25 (flying into Berlin). The day after the race will want to see the Berlin Wall then we want experience other areas of Germany I lean towards Bavaria. We will have 3 days after the marathon to see other areas of Germany. Some places that keep popping up are Rothenburg and the Neuschwanstein Castle. What other areas would you recommend as must sees?

  1. How do we get there - is the train the best way and is it easy to navigate?
  2. Where would you fly out of?
  3. What hotels would you recommend while staying there?

We have not traveled abroad before so any insight is very much appreciated!

When do you arrive in Berlin? Where does your return flight leave from? What are you interested in? Will you be able to do much the day after the marathon? (I always crashed the day after...) What is your hotel budget? How many folks are traveling with you? If you are alone, the train is by far the better financial choice. And if you choose the train advance purchased tickets are usually really cheap if you buy 5-6 months in advance...

You will probably get some good advice if you provide more information.

Have a great marathon!!!
