Berlin in the Evening Questions

I had to cut one day from our time in Berlin and now will only have an evening and a full day to tour the city. I will be there the Saturday and Sunday of the Berlin Marathon. My question is whether there are sights that we could visit Saturday evening, such as the Lincoln or Jefferson Memorials in D.C? Perhaps a cruise on the river, assuming the sights are lit, or the Berlin Wall Memorial. On Sunday we are considering a tour of the Berliner Dom and we already have tickets to the Reichstag for 6 pm the same day. Thank you!

Only little more than 24 hours is a very short time for exploring Berlin.

Exploring Brandenburg Gate I would save for Sunday before Reichstag because it is part of the marathon course and well protected by security. Following that idea you can explore everything outside the course such as Alexanderplatz, Museum Island (buildings), Mauerpark, East Side Gallery and other outdoor sights.

There are also evening boat trips on river Spree.

Be aware that street traffic including buses and trams will be affected by street closings on Sunday - use subway (U-Bahn) and S-Bahn.

Great info, MarkK and Dave! I will put these tips to good use of our limited time and plan for a future/longer trip.
