Berlin in August or September?

Hello All! My husband and I are mulling over finally going on our beer tour of Europe. Flying into Paris then heading directly to Berlin to start our trip. We want to avoid Oktoberfest and other large gatherings. Any opinion on August vs September travel in Germany?
Thanks ahead of time.

According to this chart there’s less rain in Sep: https://www.climatestotravel.com/climate/germany/berlin. I’ve been to Berlin twice, once in Nov/Dec and again in Jun.
It rained constantly for three nights in Nov/Dec but all I needed was a raincoat and umbrella. After awhile I got tired of it.
My second time in Berlin was in Jun and I was there for five nights. I had perfect weather until my last day. It rained so hard that my raincoat and umbrella were useless and it never let up. The next day I flew home with wet clothes packed in my suitcase.

on our beer tour of Europe

I recommend first week of September for Berlin beer week, it overlaps with Musikfest - beginning of classic concert season.
Have also a look into event calendars of August and September. Avoid Marathon weekend (Sept. 23 / 24); high hotel prices.

btw: you can also come during Oktoberfest time to Berlin because you will not recognize it. Only few branches of beer house chains and the bavarian state representation in Berlin will celebrate it.

Local school summer vacations last until August 27.

August has often more hot days than September.

Obviously, things change from year to year, but I was there in 2021 from Aug 30 to Sept 4. The weather was absolutely perfect. High's in the low to mid 70's. Sunshine. Wonderful.
