Berlin Hbf to Berlin Airport by train

Hi. I will be visiting Berlin in a few weeks and on my return trip I plan to take a train from Berlin Hbf to the Berlin airport. I will have 2 suitcases with me. Is there much of a difference in convenience getting luggage onto a FEX train, a regional train, or an S-Bahn train? I'm 75, have shoulder issues, and struggle lifting things, particularly into overhead bins. So the easier the better for me. Does anyone have any experience on this or advice?

(And, while I'm at it, is there any advantage using either the DB app or the BVG app for buying tickets?)

Thanks!

Ron

Not much difference to me but as mentioned on the FEX page you can ask the MSZ team of Deutsche Bahn in advance for assistence with luggage when entering and leaving the train (FEX and regional trains). The FEX and the regional trains stop less often, so may be it is more convenient to you.

Except you travel in rush hour times there is no necessity to put the heavy luggage into the overhead compartments.

For your journey to BER I do not see the one or the other app in advantage - maybe BVG because it is easier to buy a ticket for local public transport there. If you will have the Deutschland Ticket this journey will be included there.

EDIT: If it helps here are pages with photos and insights to trains used on FEX, RB23 and RE8.

Have a good journey.
