I saw on the forum Potsdam is worth a visit. Would you recomend a group tour or go by train on our own? We are also interested in visiting one of car manufactures in the area. We've done Porche and Mercedes factories we really enjoyed the visits. I've been looking into different small group day tours-Finding there is so much to see in Berlin. We will be there in Myay 10th-15th.
Potsdam is pretty manageable on your own. I don't think you need a tour. What are you hoping to see there?
Event tip: Classic Days Berlin on May 10 and 11.
Potsdam as day trip is easy to reach by S-Bahn line S7 or by regional trains (in both cases ABC ticket needed). Unless you have a deeper interest in special sights there you can do it on your own. If interested I recommend to contact the Potsdam tourist office (see link before).
In Berlin you could join a tour in BMW motorcycle plant.
BMW Leipzig offers a tour through a car production plant.
Afaik Tesla Grünheide has no regular visitor tours.
I read it's a charming city. It seemed like a nice day visit.
Depending on time of the year you going I recommend besite all the other attractions a boatrip on the Havel River
You might just luck out with the weather in Potsdam.
If so, I would heartily recommend taking the Havel boat cruise, as suggested above, and see Potsdam (historically) from another site. I've done this relaxing, peaceful river cruise twice since I am there in the summer. This is definitely something different for you to undertake in Potsdam.
Absolutely no need to reserve tickets in advance, buy them at point of departure or in the Tourist Office on the top floor of Potsdam Hbf opposite of the book shop. A senior discount is also offered.
Yes, there are a ton of things to do in Berlin, if you look at the city laterally from Spandau to Karlshorst. If history is your focus, historical Berlin is east of the Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz.
The Tourist Office is located in Berlin Hbf and also on the east side of the Brandenburg Gate, just east of the columns in Pariser Platz.

More precisely Nikolaiviertel (core of Berlin) and Museum Island (former Cölln). Archeological work currently ongoing near Molkenmarkt.
I first saw the Nikolaiviertel in Aug. 1989 (who was to know that in a few months the Wall would be breached?) and at that time it was display site (Schaufenster) for the DDR in East Berlin. The 18th century dramatist , G. Lessing, has his house there.
Pre-pandemic 2015 I went back to Nikolaiviertel to see how it had changed since reunification, obviously, totally different, stylish, refurbished, a lovely site. Lessing's house is also a sight to behold.
