Berlin Concerts, Theater, or Whatever?

"Berlin concerts...venues with excellent performances."
That sounds like the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

I don't know when you'll be going but last year we had an opportunity to experience Berlin Musik Festival. They have a variety of acts to suit all tastes. We went on Sept 2 for a performance at the Berlin Philarmonie by the Staatskapelle. It was the highlight of our trip! The music was fantastic and the Philarmonie is beautiful! We booked online but had the tickets mailed to our rental apartment. The booking process was quite easy and you got to choose your seats. The seats we bought were around 65e a piece but there were also cheaper tickets.

Berlin is a centre for classical music, both concerts and opera (at least three major companies.) Tickets tend to be moderately priced since there is substantial government financial support for the arts. Many places now have on-line ticket sales. One particular bargain is the State Opera, which has been banished from its home opera house for renovations (which are taking a long time) and now perform in a '60s-era hall which is small enough that every seat is close to the world-class performers. http://www.staatsoper-berlin.de/en_EN
Theatre offers less choice unless you speak German. Of course the subtitles at the opera are in German too.
