Berlin Card advice

Hi everyone, heading off to Berlin in July and need advice on whether to purchase VisitBerlin Card or
Berlin welcome card. Will be there for 6 days. Thanks.

I was just in Berlin and got the 6 welcome card. It is transit plus discounted entries on attractions and some other venues. I only used the card for discount purposes twice - otherwise I just used it for transit. So I would suggest looking at the website carefully to evaluate whether you will actually use the discounts. In hindsight I could have saved 20 euros buying a 7 day transit pass and paying full price on the two places I visited.

The thing I did find value in was the three day museum pass. It covered museum island and many more. For 24€ it pays for itself quickly. I'd recommend going to the Pergamon about a half hour before opening. Otherwise the wait is 2+ hours throughout the day. It is also open later on Thursday.

The museum pass can be economical if you tend to graze rather than gorge in museums. Berlin has lots of large museums. I found that I spent too much time in each one for the pass to pay off, and I felt constrained to cram the museums into the pass days, which was hard on my feet. So I'd say proceed with caution, and consider the location of the pass-covered sights you hope to see. Be sure to allow time to move from one to the next. Berlin is big. A transit pass is likely to pay off.

As of last year, a pass covering the Museuminseln museums did not allow you to skip the lines.
