Berlin - Boat Tours on the Spree

Are all boat tours on the Spree created equally? I want to do a 1 hour cruise this summer and I'm not sure if I should find a specific company and book ahead - or is this overkill, and I should just use a dock and time that I find convenient and hop on whatever boat is there. The most convenient place would be the dock at Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 1, near the DDR museum. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

We just picked the one closest to where we were, in this case on the Museum Insul. Nice trip and tasty beer.

They are probably all similar. I enjoyed the tour, although the narrative can be a little cheesy at times. I just picked a boat that was departing soon.

Yes, the tours of central Berlin are all pretty similar. It is worth doing one - unlike some other cities with rivers the Spree in central Berlin has substantial sections where the buildings take up the full river bank with no paths, and you can get views that are only really accessible by boat.

The best place to find multiple tours ready to depart is the stretch of riverbank by Friedrichstrasse railway station.
