We will have 5 days in Berlin, starting 5/29 (a Sunday). I started looking at Viator, but after reading posts on Rick Steves decided against it. We think we want to take a tour of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp and do a Berlin Bike Tour, as we have never been to Berlin before. I would love to hear recommendations for tour companies on each?
Insider tours do excellent tours to Sachsenhausen Concentration camp.
Can't help with the bike tours but if you look on Trip Advisor you will find listings for about 200 tour companies in Berlin.
Viator is just a reseller of tours, so good idea not to use them.
We did a few tours with Original Berlin Walks including Sachsenhausen

All were excellent, terrific guides and very affordable. No need to reserve in advance- just show up at Meeting Point. If you have a Berlin Welcome card you get a little discount.
sandra,
I also did the Sachsenhausen tour with Orignal Berlin Walks and I really enjoyed it. The guide provided a good background of the history before we reached the camp, so that made it so much more interesting. As I recall, one of the meeting points for the tours is Bahnhof Zoo.
Yes- meeting points are near the zoo and another at Hackescher Markt- you then get on the Sbahn to HBF and the 2 groups meet for the train ride to Oranienburg.
Our train was late so while we waited at station the guide gave us a wonderful overview of the camp history etc.
I have not visited Sachsenhausen, but the first time my husband and I were in Berlin, we began by taking an introductory walking tour with Original Berlin Walks, and we really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend them!
Hi,
The train going from Berlin Hbf to Oranienburg for the camp has Stralsund as the terminus. It's the same train for Neustrelitz.
I did several Insider Tours last summer. They were excellent. I did the tours to Potsdam, Cold War, and the Third Reich. There are other companies that I believe are equally good. I chose Insider Tours because they worked out time wise with my other "bucket list" items.
I did Sachsenhausen on my own……using RS guidebook and the audio guide at the Camp. They both worked well together. The walk from the train station to the camp was a little long….but you get to walk through some nice neighborhoods.
