Berlin Airbnb locations?

Hi Everyone,

I have traveled extensively throughout Europe last 30 years, but I have never been to Berlin! Any suggestions on staying in the best neighborhood in Berlin? I will be using Airbnb and obviously want a downtown location, but realizing Berlin is so big, does it matter where you are located? I understand public transportation is great. Any advice will be welcomed, thanks.

Hi,

After all these trips to Europe in the last 30 years, it's high time you're going to Berlin...glad you're doing it. Comparing it to the 1980s esp in the east would be much more of a shocker in relationship to now.

I can't offer any advice on apts. or Airbnb in Berlin. I don't use those options, only stay in small hotels and Pensionen. As for an advantageous place to stay, I would suggest a place close to or on the east-west lateral S-Bahn, where the major junction points are Bahnhof Zoo, Alexanderplatz, Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse, Berlin Hbf (central station), Berlin-Charlottenburg (west) or Berlin-Wannsee (west) or Ostkreuz (east). It is a spread out city, eg, from Bahnhnof Zoo in the west to Ahrensfelde (the terminus of the S-Bahn 75 line) takes ca hour.

We like to walk everywhere---a good way to see things. We stayed where Friedrichstrasse crosses the river, halfway between the Reichstg and the Museuminsel. That location was perfect for us. I don't know if there are any private rentals nearby, but good friends have stayed at Andina apartments and spoke well of the property.

Hi Bill,

Berlin is certainly one of the most exciting cities to visit. We have visited a few times and we stay at Hotel Augustinenhof. Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, in the old Jewish area and so close to Museum Island with lots of Cafes around too. We use booking.com (I'm in no way affiliated to that booking engine by the way) and usually pay around $100 AUD per night.

Hope that helps.

I just booked an Airbnb apartment for my first trip to Berlin in May. I picked this property located in Prenzlauerberg because it was close to transit, well reviewed, and in what is supposed to be a fun (but safe) neighborhood. There are many choices and I was overwhelmed - hoping this one works out!
