I found what looks like a lovely Air BnB in the Mitte section of Berlin. Is this a good area to stay in. We have never been there before, generally prefer walkable neighborhoods. Or, are there other you would recommend.

Mitte is in central Berlin, where most of the major sights are located. It's convenient, generally walkable, with very good public transportation. It may not be as quiet as you might like. A more specific location would get more useful answers, if you have one. I stayed near Hackescher Markt, which I believe is considered in Mitte, and was happy with the location.

How many days would you recommend we spend in Berlin.

Berlin is worth minimum 4-5 nights or more - depending on your interests.
For renting housing apartments in Berlin to tourists the landlord needs a permission by authorities. If you do not see an official number of the apartment in the exposé hands off.
As Berliner I like to ask you to use hotels to travel social responsibly. Renting apartment to tourists is a business model that takes away housing space from locals - therefore poorer families have no chance to live in the center part of the city but this is one of the reasons why tourists like Berlin.
Unter den Linden is very central but I doubt that there is a tourist appartment and the interpretation of Alexanderplatz is very wide. So, better be careful where the apartment exactly is
