We have been to Berchtesgaden once. We took a bus from Salzburg, spent a couple of hours walking around, then trained back to Salzburg. (We used a taxi from the salt mines back to the train station.)
This April, several older ladies will be training from Munich to Berchtesgaden to spend a couple of days.
Is there any public transport within the town?
Thank you.
judith,
I'm not sure if this covers the information you're looking for, but it may help - https://www.berchtesgaden.de/en/general-information/maps-local-transportation .
There is reasonably good bus transportation in and around Berchtesgaden. The town center of Berchtesgaden is fairly easy to walk, but the town center is a steep uphill walk from the train/bus station. Happily, there are buses that can get you there!
Here is a map of the bus lines for the Berchtesgaden area: http://www.rvo-bus.de/oberbayernbus/view/mdb/regiobusfranken/oberbayernbus/mdb_183234_liniennetzplan_berchtesgaden.pdf
Hopefully, you are using a device that will allow you to make the map bigger -- it is really hard to read at the size it comes up.
The 839 and 841 buses will get you from the bus station at the train station (listed as "ZOB/Berchtesgaden Hbf" on bus schedules) to the town center (listed as "Berchtesgaden Zentrum" on the bus schedules). The 843 will do this, too.
You can find a list of the buses for the Berchtesgaden area here: http://www.rvo-bus.de/oberbayernbus/view/tarif/gaestekarten/kur-berchtesgaden.shtml
If you hover over "Fahrplan" in the red menu bar near the top of the page and then select Fahrplandownload, you can download the schedule for each bus by typing its number into the box with "Ort/Linie/Kreis eingeben."
From this webpage you can download the schedules for the buses in Berchtesgaden. Enter the bus number from the link above, or just Enter "Berchtesgaden" for a table of all of the buses with links to their schedules.
