Berchtesgaden or Innsbruck 3 nights to view the Alps end of April

Hello - We are flying into Munich (2 nights) last part of April, train to Vienna (3 nights) then have 3 nights to fill before flying out of Zurich. No car, but would like to end the trip in a quiet town with a relaxed view of the Alps for 3 nights and take the Arlberg Pass train to Zurich. I enjoyed the Lauterbrunnen Valley and Wilderswil last April and would like to get my Alps mountain viewing fix without going into the mountains as it is post ski season the end of April and many places are closed until summer season begins.

Berchtesgaden seems quiet and less touristy than Innsbruck and has the lake. Will English speaking tourists do okay in Berchtesgaden and the surrounding area inns just south of town closer to Lake Konigssee? Are there other suggestions of places along the train route?

Thank you in advance.

Stayed in both places.
I would go with Berchtesgaden, Innsbruck is in a valley with a bit of distance to the mountains. Berchtesgaden is smaller and closer to the ski areas. Also, the Eagles Nest is awesome.
Further, it is close to Salzburg, which is fantastic.

Take a look at Ehrwald and Lermoss Austria. If the lifts are closed, you can walk across the golf course and enjoy the view of the Zugspitz and Sonnenspits. Yes, some places will be seasonably closed. Mid-April in the Alps can be dead. Schönau am Königssee near the Königssee. An old favorite in a good location Hotel Hanauerlehen. Not everybody's cup of tea.

Love Berchtesgaden. Pretty, quiet old town and the alpine scenery is gorgeous!

You’ll do fine with English.

One of our favorite places to stay is nearby in Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden, which is a lovely, quiet village with stunning alpine scenery itself.

This place is a few minutes walk from the village and the bus stop (Berchtesgaden is 10 minutes away).
