Belgium to Berlin

This might be a pretty specific question but will appreciate any help. Traveling from Liege, Belgium to Berlin for long weekend. Was originally planning to fly out of Brussels but am hearing that I need to arrive quite early to the airport considering recent events. My question is do you think it's just easier to take a 6 hour train rather than a 45 minute trip to airport, 2-3 hours lead time and a 1 1/2 hour flight to Berlin. Seems like I'm spending the same amount of time.

Would greatly appreciate any better suggestions!

Thanks!!

Although I don't find six hours on a train a waste of time, and flying isn't always that much quicker than it is supposed to be, the equation is different when it's just for a long weekend. It might be useful to check out Charleroi (»Bruxelles Sud«) for a suitable flight by Brussels Airlines.

If,

I prefer taking the train too regardless if it's over 6 hours...immaterial. Now, in your case you can do a combination. Take the train Liege to Cologne or Düsseldorf, fly from either one to Berlin. Would that be more convenient? Or, take the train to Düsseldorf to get a route on the ICE.
