Need some ideas as to where to go for a beer festival in southern Germany. We will be in Venice the first week of October and would like to take in a German beer fest in one of the small towns near the boarder. Our plan would be to rent a car and drive to where there was one and stay a night before going on to Croatia. Any and all ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you

Oktoberfest ends Oct 4, so I don't know of any after that. And I don't think it is too good of an idea to rent a car and go to a beer festival, then drive to Croatia. Highly illegal unless you are going to an NA beer fest.
You can always hop a train to Bolzano for a Tyrolean vibe, or Villach, Austria. Croatia is a big country, depends on where you are going. And they do have beer in Croatia (as well as Venice).
