Bayreuth Suggestions

I will spend 2 nights in Bayreuth in April. Alas, Rick’s Germany 2019 edition has no information. Any suggestions for Rick Steves-like Hotels? I also am seeking a good walking and public transportation map. Any restaurant suggestions? Am visiting the Margravial Opera, the Festspielhaus, Mahnfried, The New Palace, and the Ermitage. Thanks!

Here is the local bus map.

Tourist sight with local hotels and B&B's. You won't be there during the Festspiele, so should be plenty of availability.

Wahnfried (note spelling) to New Palace to Margravial Opera House are all walking distance of each other. Nice pedestrian shopping district in the city center. You might want to take a bus up to the Festspielhaus and to the Ermitage.

We have found Booking.com to be good place to start to find hotel names and prices for our dates of interest, with ratings above 9.0, even if you then contact the hotels directly as RS recommends.

We stayed at the Hotel Lohmuhle (https://hotel-lohmuehle.de) about 3 years ago. I'd say it is Rick Steves-like. We were there for one night as a quick stop between Nuremberg and Dresden. This hotel was easy to find and had free parking as I recall. We could easily walk into the pedestrian area, and I recall walking by the opera house, so it wasn't very far. Worth checking out.

Bayreuth is a splendid place to visit and much overlooked. I'm not an opera buff, apart from the odd beautiful aria, and I can't help with hotels or transport, but Bayreuth has an attractive old town and the attractions you mentioned. The Palace gardens are attractive, Fantaisie and Sanspareil are close by.
