Bavarian Regional Day Pass and Alex Die Landerbahn trains

Greetings,
I have an upcoming trip to Munich and the surrounding areas. We are a group of 5 people, so the Regional Day Pass - Bavaria region sounded perfect for us. This should be good on all local and regional trains, excluding high speed ICE trains. I found an itinerary that works for us from Munich to Regensburg, but it is on an Alex Die Landerbahn train out of Munich Hauptbahnhof.

I understand this is a private train line that is operated on Deutsche Bahn tracks and ticketed through Deutsche Bahn. Thus, am I safe to assume that my DB Regional Day Pass ticket will work on an Alex train? Thank you,

Steve

Yes.

The "Bayern Ticket" cannot be used on ICE OR on OTHER high-speed trains (IC, EC, RJ) that you might encounter in Bavaria.

To exclude all the high-speed trains when you do your search, click on the "only local transport" box at the DB itinerary page.

The Alex train is covered . As an additional example , I have a Sachsen pass for a day this fall ( The Saxony version of a Bayern ticket ) and it covers the Trilex train I need , which is also operated by Landerbahn .

We have ridden the reverse of this route on ALEX trains a few times. It is old rolling stock, divided into 6 passenger cabinets. The cars are inefficient space and we have had to stand a couple times. It might pay to be there early. The Bayern Ticket works fine.

The Bayern ticket is valid on any local train independent of the actual carrier - so ALEX, Agilis, Bayerische Regionbahn, Bayerische Oberlandbahn, Meridian, Erfurter Bahn etc. etc. are all integrated in the DB fare system.

BTW. It's true that Alex trains are composed of refurbished old D-train cars. Nonthelesse I like them, the 6-people compartments give you some privacy. And they carry a snack bar and you can buy your ticket after boarding. Try that on a DB train...
