Bavaria with a toddler and a baby in August

Hi all, I'm planning a trip to Bavaria with my husband, 2.5 years old and 1 year old in August for 2 weeks. Thought of flying to Munich.
I'm looking for a place that is not very far for Munich, that we can rest, with playgrounds for the kids to play, nature, space..
I heard of garmisch partenkirchen - is it a nice place to stay? Are there attractions not far away? Any hotel recommendations for a hotel with space for the kids would be appreciated

Thanks!

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a very touristy place. In general places close to German alps can be considered as nice.

I cannot recommend accomodation but to search for "Kinderhotel" or "Familienhotel". It delivers a lot of possibilities.

In August with children in this region, you should be aware of ticks; close to lakes of mosquitos, close to ranches and farms of horse brakes.

Welcome.

The topic of ticks is so important that state of Bavaria has a separate information page about ticks (German: Zecken).
In Bavaria, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI, health authority) has classified 94 out of 96 counties and independent cities as TBE (German: FSME) risk areas.

No specifics but I wanted to jump in and encourage you with our story.

We traveled with our (barely) 3yo all over from Frankfurt to the Mosel to the Rhine to the Romantic Road to Freiburg to Hallstatt to Vienna. We had been warned to "be prepared for a lot of teutonic tutting" over our little cub's inevitable toddler behavior. Instead....We were met with universally gracious and understanding innkeepers and fellow guests. Kinder Eier would appear at our breakfast table, German couples would engage with us, and EVERYONE wanted to find out where they could buy a pair of shoes that blinked with every step. I seriously could have sold 15 pairs of tiny blinking tennis shoes.

So my only advice is to do exactly what you're planning to do: Break up your day with lots of naps, snacks, and running around. Oh, and a trip to Playmobil Land next time when they're a bit bigger.

There's no need to travel all the way to Garmish. Almost every park or green space will have a place for children to play, even some of the beer gardens, and there are lot's of parks in and around Munich. Keep some extra crackers and cookies in case the kids want to feed the ducks or swans. Munich also has a toy museum, a children's museum, and the Deutsches Museum has a kids area. Also the Paleontology Museum is a must if the toddler likes dinosaurs.

But if you're planning on two weeks you have time to go to Garmish, and tour around a bit. Just don't worry too much about finding a place for the kids to play. One thing you might look into is finding a local fest, because they always have kids rides and games.
